What is going wrong at Newcastle?

After another emotional sapping loss to a team that we believe we should be finishing higher than in the table, what is happening currently to Newcastle, we look half the team we did last season, and whilst it is very easy to point the finger at Eddie Howe and that he needs to do better, but upon looking into it, there are a multitude of reasons that are all contributing to what is going to be a difficult season.
Eddie is a victim of his own success.
The owners stated that they wanted to be "Number 1", and even with their levels of wealth, knowing the competition and financial rules, they would of known that this was a long term project and not an overnight switch. Eddie was worked wonders with a squad that was a lower half of the league, littered with a couple exceptional players so to get a trophy and a second season of European football has taken it's toll on the squad before the squad has been able to have the foundations built.
Boardroom Results --> Transfers
We cannot be comparing ourselves with the Ambramovich era Chelsea or Sheikh Mansour's City, the rules were different back then, they could very quickly upgrade all levels of the squad, raise the ceiling whilst also raising the floor, something that we have not been able to do if we wanted to continue the success. We might be able to offer big transfers here and there but it is the wage structure that is really crippling the club progressing right now, how many times have we gone for players and they end up going somewhere else when it looks like we've got our man, wages, someone else comes in and offers considerably more. Sesko, Ekitike, Joao Pedro and delap just to name a few, and I am sure there are more that this that we just don't hear about.
How are we going to compete? Well to compete on the pitch we need to compete off it first, and this is where I think some of the biggest successes have been.
In the last year of the previous ownership, 20/21 was £142 million, and the last accounts for 23/24 are £320 million. 3 years to over double our turnover is huge, this is where the real war is.
David Hopkinson holds the key
This man comes with an extremely good tract record, in sports business including Real Madrid, I truly believe if we listen to the man and he is able to action accordingly then it might be slower than he claims, but we will be competing at the top table.
Youth should be more than just Miley
I'm not even sure the previous ownership knew that we had a youth team, but now we are buying players for the youth, and this is exciting. We are going to be losing on some yes, but just 1 that makes the first team or can be sold for good money then that is the success of the youth setup over any youth trophies.
The one who shall not be named
Unfortunately this person does need to be noted. Was a HUGE success for us, and that is down to Eddie Howe and the rest of the team. This team was built with him as the focal point, and the reality is the drama of the summer changed all of that, leaving late, we didn't have a replacement (can point fingers at a different time) and when we eventually got two, one is very different in play style and the other got an unfortunate injury and has been chasing match sharpness since.
Many many more....
I will come up with an extensive list of all little aspects that will ultimately affect the on pitch results, even just a little bit soon adds up.
One thing is for sure... it's never boring being a Newcastle fan
